I’ve seen Iron Chef and Iron Chef America a handful of times, but they are not “Must See TV” for me. Both shows are exciting and enjoyable to watch, and I think they’re partly responsible for the appeal of the Nintendo DS and Wii Cooking Mama video game series. Following the success of those games, Destineer and United Media announced last week that they will be bringing the Iron Chef franchise to both systems. Allez Cuisine!

Looks just cheesy enough to be a hit. Min and I tried watching Iron Chef America, but as much as we love Alton Brown, the show just sucks compared to the original Japanese version. A pale copy of the original with arrogant American chefs who think they can do the same thing over and over and win.
I really hope they don’t have Giada or Bobby Flay in the video game version. Talk about spoiling a good thing…
We’ve been having fun with Cooking Mama: Cook Off for the Wii. It’s surprising how challenging it is, and it makes great use of the Wii-mote. Peeling potatoes has never been so hard!
